For those not as familiar with Rotary International Organization, all Rotary Clubs are organized into Districts, and Districts are organized into Zones. Our District 6920 is in Zone 34 - which
includes 14 Rotary Districts located in Georgia, Florida, Puerto Rico and the Carribean.
The 14 Governors in Zone 34 work as a team in many ways - and therefore - we in District 6920 find ourselves truly in the Midst of a great challenge!
Our entire ZONE was affected to some degree - by two enormous hurricanes.
Our neighbors are fighting through - but they need us!
Our efforts will continue for years - and will cover a wide range of projects and partnerships. We will strive to keep everyone informed - and will post stories
and information and updates often.
We hope everyone is inclined to help in some way - and
THIS NEWSLETTER is a great place to start looking for information and constructive ways to help.

Future Transportation for District 6920 Governors?
Actually DG Hamsa Toured Middle Georgia State University on Friday Sept 28, one day before the 2017 Heart of Georgia

DG Hamsa Makes his first visit to Ft Stewart
DG Hamsa enjoyed his first visit to Ft Stewart with Hinesville Rotary Club members in October. Hamsa
greatly enjoyed an interactive hands on tour where he met soldiers and civilians assigned to Ft. Stewart. He observed training, thanked soldiers, & heard about the history of the 3rd Infantry Division. The visit
included a visit to the Army museum. Thota and 3ID installation guests saw tank & weapon simulators, roll over vehicles, and visited a China Room, full of treasures. The afternoon tour concluded with dinner that evening. Club members spent Tuesday’s lunch
meeting hearing more about Thota’s partnershio with MAP International, where Hinesville Rotarians will volunteer, as well as his Entrepreneurship initiative-a program that will result in the Hinesville Club hosting its first ever STEAM (science, technology,
engineering, arts/architecture, math) Celebration February 10, 2018 at Armstrong States Liberty Center Campus, a FREE event that will be geared towards elementary and middle school youth in our communities.

B. DISTRICT Projects, Initiatives, & Plans
What is the District 6920 Entrepreneurship Project? Its simple! All Clubs and Rotarians across our District are being asked to identify a project in your community to foster interest and excitment
- and a stronger pathway to achievement and success in the business world - among students of all ages. DG Hamsa has mentioned this effort in every official club visit - - encouraging EVERY club to take on an Entrepreneureship Partnership.
Each club can choose to partner with an existing project - in order to build it up and make it stronger, OR they can create a new project & locate a school or organization with which to partner.
The possibilities are endless - the GOAL is for each club to mentor local youth and inspire them to start their own businesses!

Sandersville Rotary Joins Local HS
in Entrepreneurship Partnership Project
Representatives of the Sandersville Rotary Club, Including President Jan Horadan - met with staff at Washington County High School in October, including: Amy Vickers, School
Improvement Specialist, and Tim May, Asst Principal and CTAE Director from Washington County High School to discuss student needs. Tim told the group he has spoken with business and industry leaders and found that CTAE students had the basic skills for jobs
they were applying for but lacked in interview skills, including dress, writing resumes and face to face interviews. He started a class called employability skills addressing these issues. The Sandersville Rotary club will join in this project.
Members of the Sandersville club that currently hold positions in the 6 basic areas that these students tend to be employed in will write a job advertisement with
criteria and then interview the students for the job. They will be graded (in part using resources from District Rotarians with specific background). Amy and Tim are hoping to get permission to give the winning student in each category a monetary/gift certificate
and possibly recognize them at Spring Awards ceremony. The school personelle are excited about Rotary stepping in to help and to further this partnership and share the results, they hope to join us at District Conference (All Club Celebration) in April!
This will surely be a win-win for the students and the Sandersville Rotary Club.

District 6920 launches groundbreaking
Pilot Partnership to aid patients in need.
Rotary clubs across Southeast Georgia are now partnering with MAP International to provide medical relief to local citizens who were falling through the cracks of the healthcare system. MAP International, a Christian
non-profit based in Brunswick, provides life-changing medicines and health supplies to people in need. They are now partnering with Rotary District 6920 to provide free medicines for qualified patients through pilot clinics in Brunswick and Valdosta.
(Below- Steve Stirling shares a joyful moment with DG Hamsa, DGN Mike Muldowney, & DGE Margaret Jacobs - while passing on a check for Puerto Rico relief to MAP on behalf of the Augusta Club.)

Augusta & Golden Isles Clubs Send Support to MAP Intl.
DG Hamsa was honored to present a check for $2,000 on behalf of the Augusta Club to (Rotarian) Steve Stirling, Exec. Director of MAP Intl - designated for much needed personal
hygiene kits as part of the relief efforts in Puerto Rico -
Map International is on the front lines of the efforts for 3 Hurricanes and the Earthquake that ravaged huge numbers of people in the span of less than one month. MAP needs money & volunteers
to keep the help flowing to where it is so desperately needed.
Jason Elliott presented the program at a recent meeting of Golden Isles Club - during which he shared MAP's efforts in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin islands in response to hurricane Maria. T o date
MAP has shipped over $3.2 M and medicines and health supplies to Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands treating as many as 276,000 people. MAP has a team in Puerto Rico now - to determine additional support needed for a long term recovery. After the meeting
- Golden Isles President Molly Duckworth presented a check of support on behalf of the club.

Milledgeville Celebrates 80 Years - with Excitement & FUN.
On October 26 - Milledgeville officially marked 80 Years of Service Above Self!!
Amid the Celebration - joined by DG Hamsa - PHF awards were presented to Rotarians Fred Godin, Stephen Houser, Ashley Bacon, Nancy Fillilove, Carol Mercer, Natacha Ansley, Dana Davis and Tom
Glover.
Milledgeville is a GREAT club after 80 years - -and as an example of ‘ WHY’ - - here are a few highlights from their last Board meeting: They voted
to donate $500 to Keep Milledgeville Baldwin Beautiful for educational coloring books; their District Grant funds of $962.00 having arrived, they voted to buy Jill's Books for Mary Vinson Library in lieu of speakers gifts. Wile donations may prove generous
- they approved any necessary expenditure to ensure Thanksgiving food boxes (FKA Christmas baskets); AND they voted to donate $100 toward The Rose Parade float that Rotary International will sponsor this year with the theme "Seeds of Service”.
What a JOY to Celebrate 80 years with the Rotary Club of Milledgeville GA!

Strong Leadership for Rotaract & Interact
Good Leadership isn’t a coincidence! Its an output of careful
planning & hard work!. In Early October, DG Hamsa, AG Brigitte Cabeza, and Rotarian Donald Fountain met in Glennille to review the District Interact-Rotarct plan for 2017-18. Making sure things are going smoothing and strongly FORWARD. Great things are in
store for both Rotaract and Interact in District 6920!

Rotaractors use Technology to invite ‘virtual’ visit to their Club
Rotaract Club of Armstrong State University - uses all available Technology and Social Media to engage their members (and potential new members!). Not only do they advertise their meetings on Facebook
and elsewhere - they recently used ZOOM (a free video conferencing platform) to invite and allow anyone (present in the room or not) to watch the meeting (featuring Ralph Schotland, the Secretary-General of the Rotaract Global Model United Nations) BRAVO Armstrong
State Rotaractors for inspiring us ALL - to charge into the future!
This is a great example of using technology to connect inspiring youth & leaders around the world right on your doorstep — want to learn more?
